Support of Parish Operations and Facilities

Adopt a Flower Bed Club
Individuals and families are responsible for inspecting/maintaining (watering, weeding, deadheading, etc.) a part of the church landscaping on a weekly basis from spring through fall. You select the bed and the size - no experience necessary. Time commitment will vary depending on the season, amount of weekly rainfall, and size of your area.

Art & Environment Committee
The Art & Environment Committee plans, obtains materials, and completes the decoration of the church for particular seasons and events throughout the year. Those with creative talents are encouraged to join us! Time commitment varies.

Building & Grounds Committee
The Building and Grounds Committee is an advisory body to the Parish Administrator and Pastor on matters of facilities maintenance and improvement. Those with experience in fields of operations, construction, air handling and electronics are invited to lend their expertise. The Committee meets in the spring and the fall, and is consulted for advice as needed.

Desktop Publishing
Provide writing skills/copy for various publication within the parish, such as the parish newsletter. Time commitment varies; guidance given.

Martha Group
The Martha Group does light cleaning of the sanctuary, side altars, and stations each week; dusting surfaces and washing out the holy water fonts (no floors or heavy cleaning required). A turn comes every six weeks. Time spent is usually under an hour. This ministry is quiet and unseen and can be a prayerful experience, working in the real presence of God.

Money Counters
Volunteers sort and count all monies received in church collections. This group meets early Monday mornings. Training is provided. Must be an active, trustworthy and committed supporter of our parish in time, talent and treasure.

Office Volunteers
Office Volunteers assist in a variety of office/clerical duties, such as answering phones, greeting visitors to the Parish Office, adding special inserts in the weekly bulletin, and assisting with bulk mailings. Time commitments depends on the project. Training is provided.

Parish Newsletter
The parish newsletter, “Happenings,” is produced and distributed five times a year (January, March, May, September and November). This newsletter addresses information about St. Francis of Assisi parishioners and activities in depth. Story ideas are welcome. Volunteer opportunities include writing stories, editing, and assisting with mailing.

SCRIP
Volunteers spend 15-20 minutes after the weekend Masses selling SCRIP. Proceeds go to the Catholic school system, St. Francis of Assisi Church, or to reduce an individual student’s facility fee. Minimal time commitment, every three to four weeks. Training is provided.
